Paws for a Cause
12th Annual Charity Night and Silent Auction

The Twelfth Annual Paws for a Cause Charity Night & Silent Auction will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 6:30-9PM at Mustang Alley’s in Baltimore (1300 Bank Street). This event will benefit B-More Dog and Animal Allies Rescue Foundation.

B-More Dog is an all-volunteer, nonprofit whose mission is to promote responsible dog ownership in the Baltimore Metropolitan area through education and outreach programs and to ultimately restore the image of pit bull dogs as beloved family pets. Their ongoing outreach efforts include humane education programs in local schools and youth groups, B-More Dog Clinics, which have provided vaccines and other critical services, “Pit Bulls on Parade” events and referrals for free spray/neuter surgery.

Paws for a Cause is raising money for B-More Dog to help them develop a coloring book that reinforces their humane education messages of basic dog care and safety through illustrations of a pit bull-type dog as a model canine citizen. The goal is to raise $2,500 that will make it capable for an illustrator to develop the book as well as print 500 copies. This project will be an excellent resource to reinforce the message to youth that animals have feelings, the importance of treating animals with kindness, how to meet a dog’s basic needs, and basic dog safety.

Animal Allies Rescue Foundation forms alliances with various rescue organizations, animal care professionals and foster homes to promote the rescue and adoption of abandoned, abused, homeless and neglected animals. With education and community involvement, they strive to raise awareness surrounding the issues of animal abuse, importance of proper animal care and the fallacies of breed discrimination.

Paws for a Cause is raising money for Animal Allies Rescue Foundation (AARF) to support their “Mittens Miracle Fund” which is dedicated to the high expenses of animals with extreme medical needs. The average veterinary care cost can vary between $250-500, however, extreme cases can run upwards of $5,000! AARF wants to ensure that regardless of how an animal arrives at their facilities, it is provided the proper medical care, attention and love it deserves.

As we all know, companion animals are still being turned over to shelters and rescue groups at alarming rates. We also know that rescue organizations rely heavily on the support and monetary donations of the community. We want to help! Each year, we hold a fundraiser to benefit one or two local animal welfare groups. No animal welfare group is too small to apply! Over the past 15 years, we’ve raised more than $100,000!

Our approach at the event is to find projects that local animal organizations need funded. We believe that having a monetary goal tied to a specific project helps loosen the wallets of those in attendance. For those interested, please download the application form, and email it to us at info@paws4cause.org.

In return, we ask that the group(s) selected help raise awareness of our event within their network of supporters and that they send a representative to the event. We will notify the group(s) if we are in need of a volunteer or two to assist before or during the event.
